“IKE AND OBAMA: KANSAS ROOTS, TROUBLED FATHERS, CIVIL RIGHTS”   The Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library of Kansas and the Kansas Humanities Council are proud for the 4th years to present 2010 Kansas Reads…..Dreams from My Father, a moving memoir by Barack Obama of his traumatic journey to discover his heritage.  Dr. David Nichols, Southwestern College emeritus professor and 2008 Kansas Notable Book list author will present a program via video conferencing on Sunday, March 14 @ 2 p.m. in the Lane County Community Room in the Lane County Courthouse. Join us for the broadcast fronm Manhattan Public Library.

Kid Kapers is held each Tuesday from 10:00-10:00 a.m. for ages 3-5. Wee Readers is held right after Kid Kapers from 10:45-11:00 a.m. for ages 0-3. Come join the fun!

Summer Reading begins May 19th!

 “Be Creative @ Your Library” is the theme this year for Summer Reading at the Lane County Library. Registration will be held during April 27- May 8 at the Lane County Library. All children ages three through fourth grade (current school year) are eligible. A weekly event will be held each Tuesday from May 19th- July 7th. Children will read pages in exchange for prizes. Come join in the fun. More information will be given at the library when you register.

Kid Kapers starts September 9th for children ages 3-5. Sessions are held each Tuesday from 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. The 30 minute program will include stories, music, fingerplays , crafts and other activities.

Wee Readers starts September 9th for ages o-3 years of age. We request that parents/caregivers stay with their child. Sessions are held each Tuesday from 10:45 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The program will consist of music, stories, fingerplays and more,.

 bugs-on-leaf.jpg “Catch the Reading Bug” at the Lane County Library. Ages 3 through 4th grade may enroll for a weekly program. Participants will count pages read for prizes awarded throughout the program. Enrollment will be held from May 19-30.
